This, the last big Octane ever, turned out to also have the biggest turnout. There were so many people that overflow tables had to be setup in the hall. We also had probably the bggest tournout of Mowers at any lan, with about 2/3rds of the clan showing up.
A great time was had by all, despite some unfortunate technical difficulties in the beginning with the internet going down and then the blaster virus breaking loose amoung the un-patched.
There was a lot less staff this time, which made the technical difficulties take a bit longer to fix. Luckly Kraz, Tom and Brian of Typ0 stepped up to help with the network problems, and Mameman became the Iron Chef with his blazing BBQ inferno of doom.
An ambitous amount of tournaments were planned for the night, but unfortunatly the technical difficulties set back the timetable quite a bit and only a small portion of the tournies were completed. It was a full night of gaming though, and the action kept on going well into the next morning. The Battlefield 1942 Tournament and the Warcraft 3 tournament were the most succesful. The BF tourney being donimated by none other than Phil and his crack team of unbeatable Battlefield fanatics.
Sweaty and his band provided some rockin tunes for the first part of the lan, which were followed by our old friends, the DJs from NGF.
Sometime before dawn, our big prize, the Intel donated Motherboard and CPU were raffled off, along with some t shirts and a few other odd items.
It was sad to see the end of Octane as we know it, but hopefully someday we will see the return of Octane, the best lan in the valley.
