This LAN, sponsored by the typ0 clan was held at the super-secret typ0 LAN headquarters in beautiful south San Jose. This LAN, as was attended by members of the Mowers clan and typ0 clan as well as some regular Octane attendees.

The LAN took place on that most hateful and evil day of the year, Valentines day. The typ0 LAN center became a refuge for those of us who were resisting the evil seductive powers of those wicked creatures commonly known as females. All throughout the week as we were bombarded with images of hearts and teddy bears our will to resist the lies and deceitfulness of the enemy was beginning to wear thin. Luckly typ0 came to the rescue by providing us with enough carnage, bloodshed and general anti-cutesyness to strengthen our resolve and help us to resist the tyranny of the female.

While guys around the world were forking over major amounts of cash, and saying "yes dear, whatever you say dear" in order to keep their women happy, we were safe within the typ0 fortress. Absolutely no doilies, hearts or teddybears were found within the typ0 headquarters, and it was good.

C&C Generals was the game of the night. Battles raged throughout the night as angry mobs were sent out to wreak havoc, armor battalions fought viscously and nuclear warheads were hurtled toward enemy bases.

Obviously this writeup I did in 2003 is pretty dumb. I was clearly full of angst about not having a girlfriend on valentines day, but too unaware to realize I won't find one by going to LAN parties all the time.

Anyway, what I remember most about this LAN is playing C&C Generals. I believe it was the first time most of us had played it. Of course, Zer was amazing at it right away. He always had a mind for strategy and I think it took a bunch of us vs just him to finally beat him. C&C Generals is still to this day my faveorite RTS game.
